    Determinants of perceived organizational support: An empirical study of administrative staff at public hospitals in viet nam

    This study aimed to determine the factors that affected perceived organizational support (POS) and was conducted on participants from the administrative staff at public hospitals in Viet Nam. A quantitative approach was used for collecting and analyzing data, and hypothesis testing was performed by structural equation modeling using Smart PLS 3.0. Analysis of 128 participants showed that the perception of employees toward their organization was influenced by organizational reward, procedural justice, and perceived supervisor support. The results suggested that to increase POS, public hospitals should focus on improving their reward systems—for example, building non-financial policies that currently lack opportunities for administrative staff, such as training and promotion. The organization’s accountability policy needs to emphasize attention to transparency, and managers should listen carefully to the feedback from their employees. Finally, supervisors must nurture the goals and values of their employees. This study also provides suggestions for future research related to POS, including an expanded sample size or a cross-lagged longitudinal survey design to reduce bias. © 2021, Mahidol University - ASEAN Institute for Health Development.     A Novel Self-organizing Fuzzy Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller Based Overlapping Gaussian Membership Function for Controlling Robotic System

    This paper introduces an effective intelligent controller for robotic systems with uncertainties. The proposed method is a novel self-organizing fuzzy cerebellar model articulation controller (NSOFC) which is a combination of a cerebellar model articulation controller (CMAC) and sliding mode control (SMC). We also present a new Gaussian membership function (GMF) that is designed by the combination of the prior and current GMF for each layer of CMAC. In addition, the relevant data of the prior GMF is used to check tracking errors more accurately. The inputs of the proposed controller can be mixed simultaneously between the prior and current states according to the corresponding errors. Moreover, the controller uses a self-organizing approach which can increase or decrease the number of layers, therefore the structures of NSOFC can be adjusted automatically. The proposed method consists of a NSOFC controller and a compensation controller. The NSOFC controller is used to estimate the ideal controller, and the compensation controller is used to eliminate the approximated error. The online parameters tuning law of NSOFC is designed based on Lyapunov’s theory to ensure stability of the system. Finally, the experimental results of a 2 DOF robot arm are used to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed controller

    Effects of leukemia inhibitory factor on transcript expression of pluripotent genes in bovine embryonic stem like cells

    Leukemia inhibitory factor (Lif) is very important for embryonic stem cell establishment. In this study, we investigated effects of Lif on transcript expression of pluripotent genes of bovine embryonic stem like cells in passage 1, passage 3 and passage 6. The results showed that Lif supplementation of medium could improve transcript expression of pluripotent gene including nanog, oct4, sox2 and c-myc. Three Lif concentrations were applied for cell culture medium. We found that pluripotent gene transcripts were highest expressed in 103 IU/ml Lif supplemented medium, especially nanog and oct4 transcript expression could be maintained until 6th passage . The transcript expression was decreased in 104 IU/ml Lif suppmented medium, suggesting that high concentration of Lif could inhibit pluripotent gene expression. Thus, 103 IU/ml Lif was the most efficient concentration to improve transcript expression of pluripotent genes. There was a relationship in nanog expression and c-myc and sox2 expression. C-myc and sox2 expression were up-regulated when nanog was down-regulated. We also accessed nanog or oct4 which were key factors for the maintenace of pluripotency and renewal of bovine embryonic stem like cell. The result demonstrated that nanog could be the key factor for pluripotency of bovine embryonic stem like cells.

    Fostering innovative behavior in the aviation industry: The role of perceived supervisor support and work group diversity

    The research primarily seeks to understand how supervisor support can directly and indirectly enhance the service innovative behavior (SIB) of flight attendants via work engagement. Moreover, although there has been some research on the effect of group diversity on organizational performance, the results have not been consistent. Thus, this study addresses this gap by investigating how work group diversity can make variance in the relationship between work engagement and innovative behavior of flight attendants. The sample size of 242 flight attendants working at the central airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has been taken for the study. To test hypotheses, structural equation modeling and bootstrapping were employed. This study provided an evidence for the positive nexus between perceived supervisor support and SIB. Additionally, the results shed light on a mediation mechanism of work engagement for the association between flight attendants' perception of their supervisor and innovative behavior. Furthermore, tenure diversity and job position diversity in a work group were proved to play a moderating role in the relationship between work engagement and service innovative behavior. Specifically, flight attendants are more willing to exhibit innovative behaviors when working in a homogeneous group in terms of tenure and job position rather than in a heterogeneous group. The empirical results contributed to the diversity management literature and broadened the understanding of how to activate the service innovative behavior of employees.     Influence of Temperature And Concentration of Ethanol on Properties of Borosilicate Glass Photonic Crystal Fiber Infiltrated by Water – Ethanol Mixture

    In this paper, we present a numerical simulation of the properties of a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) made of borosilicate glass infiltrated by the water-ethanol mixture. We examine the influence of temperature and ethanol concentration for the refractive index, dispersion properties, effective mode area and confinement loss of the fundamental mode by a Lumerical simulation method. We also calculate the fundamental mode of the fiber infiltrated with a water-ethanol mixture with the concentration range of ethanol from 0% to 100% in the temperature range from 10°C to boiling point of ethanol. The results show that all fibers infiltrated with water-ethanol mixture have flat dispersion characteristics in the infrared range above 1.32. The best flatness exists for pure ethanol. Furthermore, it is possible to shift the zero-dispersion wavelength and modify fundamental properties of PCFs by both temperature and concentration of ethanol. The results obtained are important because of that we not only use their reasonable parameters for the design and manufacture but also use them in nonlinear phenomena and nonlinear applications of fibers as supercontinuum generation

    A nonlinear fractional Rayleigh–Stokes equation under nonlocal integral conditions

    In this paper, we study the fractional nonlinear Rayleigh–Stokes equation under nonlocal integral conditions, and the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution to our problem are considered. The ill-posedness of the mild solution to the problem recovering the initial value is also investigated.     Well-posed results for nonlocal biparabolic equation with linear and nonlinear source terms

    In this paper, we consider the biparabolic problem under nonlocal conditions with both linear and nonlinear source terms. We derive the regularity property of the mild solution for the linear source term while we apply the Banach fixed-point theorem to study the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution for the nonlinear source term. In both cases, we show that the mild solution of our problem converges to the solution of an initial value problem as the parameter epsilon tends to zero.     Influence of foliar application with Moringa oleifera residue fertilizer on growth, and yield quality of leafy vegetables

    Biofertilizers produced from organic materials help to promote the growth, and yield quality of crops and is more environmentally friendly than chemical fertilizers. Moringa oleifera is a leafy vegetable whose leaves are also used to make biofertilizers. The use of moringa non-edible parts in biofertilizer preparation remains under-explored. In this study, a procedure to produce moringa foliar biofertilizer (MFB) from non-edible parts was developed. The effect of composting time (3 to 4 months) on the quality of MFB was investigated, and four-month incubation was found suitable for biofertilizers yield with the highest nitrogen content and optimal pH. Furthermore, the influences of MFB doses (20 to 100 mL per Litre) on the growth of lettuce and mustard spinach were studied. The yield of these leafy vegetables was the highest at 100 mL per Litre of MFB spray. Finally, MFB was compared with other commercial foliar sprays, including chitosan fertilizer and seaweed fertilizer. Each foliar treatment was applied every five days until five days before harvest. Plant height, the number of leaves, canopy diameter, leaf area index, actual yield, ascorbic acid content, and Brix were found to be similar in lettuce sprayed with MFB, chitosan, and seaweed fertilizers. In conclusion, the application of MFB promoted the growth and yield of mustard spinach

    Disinfection performance of an ultraviolet lamp: a CFD investigation

    Ultraviolet (UV)-based devices have shown their effectiveness on various germicidal purposes. To serve their design optimisation, the disinfection effectiveness of a vertically cylindrical UV lamp, whose wattage ranges from P = 30 − 100 W, is numerically investigated in this work. The UV radiation is solved by the Finite Volume Method together with the Discrete Ordinates model. Various results for the UV intensity and its bactericidal effects against several popular virus types, i.e., Corona-SARS, Herpes (type 2), and HIV, are reported and analysed in detail. Results show that the UV irradiance is greatly dependent on the lamp power. Additionally, it is indicated that the higher the lamp wattage employed, the larger the bactericidal rate is observed, resulting in the greater effectiveness of the UV disinfection process. Nevertheless, the wattage of P ≤ 100W is determined to be insufficient for an effective disinfection performance in a whole room; higher values of power must hence be considered in case intensive sterilization is required. Furthermore, the germicidal effect gets reduced with the viruses less sensitive to UV rays, e.g, the bactericidal rate against the HIV virus is only ∼8.98% at the surrounding walls
